Family Photos!

So neither Soren nor I are picture people. I have to say though, when my parents asked to do family pictures again, I jumped at the chance. I have no problem getting in front of the camera, I just feel like I can't really pull off looking good in a picture. I am still trying to convince Soren that the camera is not going to try to steal his soul. The whole process was complicated by a two month old that was more fascinated with my brother's head than the camera. I am glad to say that even after all of this, the pictures turned out good.

Now I have an updated picture of our little family! :D

2 Months!

It's hard to believe that Hyrum is already two months old! He is just growing so fast! He weighs 15+ lbs and is still as cute as can be. His new thing is smiling. He does it all the time and it is beyond cute! I can't wait for him to start laughing.

I tried to get a picture of his smile the other day, but, believe it or not, wiggling, smiling babies are exceedingly difficult to get a non-blurry picture of. ;D Anyway this is what I ended up with. It's not the best but still pretty good. Looking at this picture makes me smile so much but believe me that it is way better in person!

The Next Step : Hyrum Dean!

After I spent almost forty-one weeks being pregnant, we finally got to meet our little boy. There was a long labor, 27 hours for those keeping track, followed by a four and a half days of visiting the NICU. It was such a relief to finally get him home. I think that we spent a lot of that night just watching him, enjoying the fact that some monitor wasn't going to go off just because we held him wrong and it came unhooked (again!). It is strange to think that that was a month ago! Maybe it's just because my irregular sleep patterns have caused some of the days to run together, I have seen two a.m. come and go more times than I would like to, but it went by so fast!

Yesterday, our family came together for Hyrum blessing. It was so great to be able to see every one again. Soren commented on how long it had been since so many of our loved ones, from both sides of our family, were all together in one place. Even some of our family from Connecticut was able to make it! It's been a crazy month full of sleepless, frustrating nights and full, sometimes seemingly unproductive days, but it has been worth it. Here's to another crazy month! Hopefully this one has more nights of sleeping for six hour at night and fewer meetings with two a.m.! :D

Finished!

I finished my quilt! As I was going through the process of making it, I was so unsure if it would turn out like I wanted it to. I love the way that it turned out though! Yep, those are dragonflies!

Our Anniversary

So Sunday, July 10th, was our first anniversary. Let me just say, I am so glad to finally have the space back in the freezer that the cake had been taking up! For our anniversary we decided to go back to the beach that we had met at. This would be my fourth time at this beach but it was pretty different this time. We had only been sitting on the beach for a few minutes when all of a sudden I saw a dorsal fin pop up out of the water. Of course, Soren missed it and I felt like maybe I was mistaken. After a while I saw another fin in one spot and another farther to the left. Eventually we realized that there was a pod of probably no more that 5 or 6 dolphins swimming just off-shore. They were even playing in the swells as they were forming. I had never seen dolphins, except at Sea World, and this just made my day. They just kept swimming back and forth along the less crowded portion of the beach. It was pretty neat. Of course, when things like this happen, I get caught up in the moment and forget that I have a camera with me. I was only able to get a few not-so-great pictures. They really were just off-shore! Then after the excitement with the dolphins, I turned around to find a small group of seagulls trying to make off with an entire bag of Cheetos from the people next to us. The bag was closed and was still inside of a plastic shopping bag. None of this deterred them and they were able to get the bag about five or six feet away from the rest of the food before anyone noticed. We ended ip leaving earlier that we had planned to because we were not able to secure a fire ring to make dinner, but it was an exciting day at the beach anyway!

Summer Project!

So for those of you that don't understand how I work, I need to be doing something, preferably something that I enjoy, most of the day. I have a hard time spending more than a small portion of my day doing things like watching TV. Usually, this compulsion to do productive things is satisfied by doing homework, but, since I am not enrolled in summer classes, I decided that I needed a summer project. I have recently discovered that I am not so bad at sewing and that I enjoy it in much the same way that I enjoy woodworking. So I thought to myself, "What sewing project wouldn't be too expensive but would give me something to do for a while?" The answer that I came up with is quilting! Anyway, here is a picture of the beginning of the quilt top. Not so bad for a first-timer, huh?! Anyway, once I am finished, More pictures will follow.

Trishia's Graduation

It's so hard to believe that my sister is graduating high school already! Didn't I just graduate? Anyway, for her graduation present I decided to get kind of crafty and make her something. I found this pattern at Joann's for a lounge jacket and I thought that it would be great for studying in her dorm room at BYU-I. I'm not sure how I feel about the pattern on the fleece but she said that she likes it. So then, at the graduation, we were looking for my sister where she told us she would be and I was getting my camera ready so that I could get a picture of her walking across the stage. And all of a sudden her name was called! So this was the only picture I could get of her. It's actually as she was walking back to her seat but oh well. Hurray for graduating!
